Residency at CYENS in Nicosia, Cyprus.
In October and November 2022 I was artist in residence at the Thinker Makerspace of CYENS – Center of Excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus. My ambition for the residency was to explore how to involve the public even more intensively in my installations by using data from the visitors as movement input. Potentially leading to the creation of a deconstruction based on sensor input.
During my stay I presented some prototypes at the WIP Festival. THe WIP Festival was titled Brave New Humanity and presented an art & technology exhibition program. These prototypes called ‘Lotus’ and ‘Meander’ use proximity sensors to respond to the presence of movement or lack thereof. They are developed using the ThinkerMakerspace equipment such as the laser cutter and 3D printer.
I wrapped up the residency with an Artist Talk and Showcase titled ‘On the Process of Making.’ And a presentation of ‘The Garden’ at the closing party of the WIP festival. The Garden is a further developed spatial setup of the ‘Lotus’ prototype. Visitors could wander around and interact with the individual specimens that resided in ‘The Garden’
